Finally! Homework! For the month of October, students will complete homework assignments on a weekly basis. There is a different type of activity for each night of the week, and suggestions for how to spread out the work (e.g. reading on Mondays and Wednesdays, math on Tuesdays and Thursdays and writing on the weekend). These are only guidelines of course! The sheets are due back at school on Mondays.
I’m very excited to offer an online homework program this year. Each student has their own Google Drive, which they can access anywhere they can get online. We have created an online classroom where I can post and assign work, and students can submit completed assignments. Instructions to get to the classroom are on our “Home Base” class website: jmatthews.commons.hwdsb.on.ca
Students know that by typing in “jmatthews underground” google will take you to this site.
It is really important that students don’t hit “Turn In” on assignments until they are done with it for the week. The good thing about Google Drive is that it automatically saves all work in real time, so students can start and stop their work throughout the week.
This is a new initiative so I predict glitches along the way. Please email me immediately (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any concerns/problems and I will get back to you quickly!
